Studio 108 Yoga Class Descriptions
Ashtanga Basics

Suitable for all levels, these fast-paced & challenging classes offer new students a thorough and safe introduction to the Ashtanga Vinyasa method. For more experienced practitioners, the course provides a tool for reviewing and strengthening the fundamental concepts that make the Ashtanga form so dynamic.
Ashtanga Yoga is an ancient system of yoga passed down from Sri T. Krishnamacharya to Sri K. Pattabhi Jois beginning in 1927 during his studies with Krishnamacharya. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009) was the master of the Ashtanga Yoga system and was responsible for Ashtanga’s transmission to the west.
Gentle Yoga
Suitable for Beginners and Advanced Practitioners, classic yoga poses are modified and taught in a calm yet dynamic format. A class designed for those desiring to work at a slower pace with focus on increasing flexibility and range of motion. Classes will vary and may also include pranayama, mantra, and meditation.
Meditation
Free class. Appropriate for students of all levels wishing to learn the basics of breath & guided meditation. The student will become familiar with the restorative qualities of mindfulness meditation. We explore how meditation fosters equanimity, lowers stress levels and leads to an overall improved quality of life.
Prenatal
A wonderful class for expectant moms that incorporates yoga postures, breathing, relaxation, and meditation. Prenatal Yoga is designed to keep the mom-to-be healthy and fit and to prepare for birth and beyond. Prenatal Yoga is a great way to stay physically healthy and emotionally grounded during pregnancy. It addresses challenges inherent to pregnancy and childbirth while nourishing the spirit to set the stage for confident parenting.
Relax and Restore
Likened to the "sweet dessert" of yoga styles, Restorative yoga allows the student to linger in soothing stillness. The postures are deeply supported by blankets, blocks and bolsters and are held for several minutes at a time.
Restorative Yoga will help you relieve stress and gain confidence in your body's strength, balance and flexibility. In time and with practice, you will be rewarded with the ability to drop with effortlessness into a place of deep contentment wherever you are, on or off of your yoga mat. Enjoy the benefits of meditative breathing in a class designed to help rejuvenate you by stretching the body and calming the mind.
Ideal for all levels, including beginners and those seeking a quieter practice.
Tantric Hatha A transformative class that will combine asana, vinyasa, pranayama, mantra, relaxation, meditation, and other energetic practices. Designed to develop deeper internal awareness, balanced energy, and greater physical and mental ease, this class is a true celebration of the practice of yoga. All levels welcome, although prior yoga experience is recommended. Vinyasa All Levels An energetic, flowing class synchronizing breath with movement, allowing your yoga practice to become a moving meditation. Heat is created in vinyasa flow through challenging work at Studio 108 and not by adjusting the thermostat as in a Bikram or hot yoga class. Build strength, flexibility and concentration. Vinyasa relieves tension in the body and calms the mind. Each class will include breathwork, meditation, relaxation and thorough instructions on refinement of poses. Students are encouraged to work at their own level. Poses are demonstrated and explained in different stages, in order for the student to find their authentic practice. These classes are appropriate for active beginners as well as seasoned yogis. Some yoga experience is helpful, but not required. Each class is unique and will vary from teacher to teacher. Modified versions of challenging poses will be given. Be sure to work at your own pace and take breaks whenever you feel the need. Yin Yoga Perfect for beginners and advanced practitioners. Joints can become stiff; yin yoga helps them move more freely! Yin Yoga is a quiet, powerful practice which targets tendons, ligaments and fascia within the body. Yin yoga is a relaxed practice of floor postures that are held from 3 - 5 minutes to encourage the slow and safe opening of connective tissues, leaving the yoga practitioner with an overall sense of lightness, spaciousness and relaxation. A Yin yoga class helps to relieve stress and is a perfect complement to more active styles of yoga. Studio 108's Yin Yoga ends with a Restorative yoga posture and a sweet, long savasana.
